Adebola warns of Bristol City threat

Saturday, November 07, 2009, 07:00

DELE Adebola warns Nottingham Forest are coming up against one of the most flexible sides in the Championship when they face his former club Bristol City today.

But he believes the Reds have enough flexibility themselves to triumph at the City Ground – and maintain their own promotion push.

"To be fair they can mix it up and play a lot of football," said Adebola (pictured) At times they tend to overplay, but they have a bigger squad this season and they do have options.

"They are well set up to be a good side at this level and they have as good a chance as anyone to get promoted. I wish them the best of luck with that, apart from today and when it comes to Forest's chances of promotion.

"But that is also what our manager set out to do, when he brought in the players he did in the summer.

"He knows we can play a footballing style of game or play a little bit longer if we need to, we have that flexibility ourselves.

"Whoever we are coming up against, we can put up whatever kind of side that we need to for that game.

"The amount of knowledge that the management team has is impressive, they know when and how to change during games.

"We work very hard on set-pieces and styles of play ourselves and we also look in depth at how other teams can switch their way of playing during matches so that we can counteract that when it happens."

Adebola admits it was a tough decision to leave Ashton Gate in the summer.

"It was a very difficult choice to leave, but if this chance had not come about, I would still have been there. This was too big an opportunity to turn down," he said. "I enjoyed my time there immensely, I was part of a well organised, good Championship side.

"The manager has them set up well, he shows loyalty to his players who have done well for him through a few divisions. He has kept the nucleus of the side together. You can see the improvement year on year."
